Many pet owners believe when their veterinarians implant the chip in their pet, that automatically means they are registered. NOPE! Your Vet will give you some paperwork which includes the microchip number and chip manufacturer. But it is up to YOU to register your pet with all your contact information in case they get lost.

A microchip is a small radio frequency identification device (RFID) that is implanted under your pet's skin. It is not a GPS. It is the only permanent, reliable way to identify a lost pet.

As long as your pet's microchip is registered with a National database, your pet's chip information will show up when a special chip scanner is used. It's important to have your pet's chip in a National database, which is where iRegisterPets registers your pet's chip. There are some private companies with their own database, but if they shut their doors (like Safe At Home recently did in early 2025) your pet's data could be lost.

If any information changes since your initial registration, such as your home address or phone number, that information should be updated to ensure if your pet gets lost, whoever finds them can get them back to you. We are not a pet microchip registry. iRegisterPets offers a convenient service to register your pet on a National pet chip database on your behalf. We offer this service to make it simple for pet parents to get their pet's chips registered. Based on national statistics, over 40% of pet's chips never get registered. We are here to reduce that statistic and help more pets get their chips registered for a small, one-time fee.

You can choose to register and maintain your pet's information yourself through a paid registry. Many charge an up-front fee plus an annual renewal fee. Some charge a high, one-time lifetime fee, but still charge if you need to make any changes in the future. OR, you can let us handle it for a small, one-time service fee. Once registered, your pet's information is stored with the registry with no additional fees.

Since this is a one-time payment with no subscription fees, there is no "cancellation" policy since there is nothing to cancel. Once you submit your pet's information along with your payment, the payment is non-refundable since we will be providing the service for you. IF you send us incorrect information, for example, if your pet's microchip number is not correct, we will contact you to verify the correct number. If you have an invalid chip number that cannot be registered, we will refund your payment and suggest having a new chip implanted into your pet and come back to us after that.

We charge a resonable, one-time fee of $19.99 for your first pet's michrochip registration service. A second pet is an additional $14.99 and three or more additional are only $9.99 each. We will contact you annually to make sure none of your contact information or pet information has changed. If you need to make a small update, we'll be happy to offer that service for a minimal fee of $5.99. If no changes are needed, there are no additional fees. Just an extended peace of mind!
